Frequently Asked Questions
How does the certification program work? Individuals gain access to all materials needed to become Certified Applied Innovators via our Learning Management System and are ready to embark on the certification process upon payment and registration. Successful completion of all required assignments and activities is based on mastery learning, a self-paced environment that matches the individual and requires mastery of each skill before moving to the next skill. Completing a portfolio of 10 skills will result in earning the Certified Applied Innovator designation.
What is mastery learning? Mastery learning was designed over 50 years ago with work from Benjamin Bloom. It stresses learning (mastering) a subject or skill, regardless of how many attempts or time are needed. Don't consider multiple attempts failures; multiple efforts may be necessary to master the subject. Assignments stress the active learning of participants as a highly successful path for learning and applying material.
How long should I expect to complete my certification? The typical time is approximately 15-20 weeks to complete all skills and earn certification successfully. Individuals have taken as little as four weeks, while others (taking time away from the program) have taken as much as a year to finish the certification.
Is there an exam involved in certification? No, the program is based entirely on mastery learning through completing activities and assignments (completing the portfolio of skills). Success comes from active-based learning.
Will I receive an electronic or paper certificate for my credential? Individuals completing the certification will receive an electronic copy and a paper certificate.
Is personal coaching and mentoring available for each candidate seeking to become a Certified Applied Innovator? Yes, each participant receives individualized coaching throughout the entire process. This involves personalized responses to all activities and assignments submitted for certification. There is no room for being "left on an island" when utilizing mastery learning.
What is the total cost of certification? The Certified Applied Innovator program's total cost is $995. This includes individualized coaching throughout the process and the certificate for successful completion.
Is there a time limit to complete the certification? Participants have a year from the day of payment and registration to complete the certification. With an average completion time of 15-20 weeks, this provides ample time to complete the credential.
